Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Butler AI, operated by Butler AI ("we," "us," or "the Service"). By installing or using Butler AI, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Butler AI is a Progressive Web Application that provides AI-assisted meal planning, grocery list generation, and larder management. The Service is provided as-is and subject to these Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use Butler AI. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Accounts and Subscriptions
3.1 Anonymous Identity
Butler AI does not require an email address or password. Your identity within the Service is represented by an anonymous UUID generated on your device. You are responsible for maintaining access to your device and any passphrase used to export your profile.
3.2 Subscription Plans
The Service is offered under the following plans: Free, Beta ($1/month), Basic ($3/month or $30/year), and Premium ($5/month or $50/year). Subscription fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.
3.3 Beta Pricing
The Beta plan ($1/month) is available during the beta period (April 2026). Users who subscribe during this period will have their pricing locked for the lifetime of continuous subscription. Should you cancel and later resubscribe, standard pricing will apply.
3.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time within the application. Upon cancellation, your access to paid features will continue until the end of the current billing period, after which your account will revert to the Free tier.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the Service
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service
- Circumvent subscription gates through technical or other means
- Use the Service to transmit malicious code or interfere with its proper operation
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written consent
- Use the Service in any manner that violates applicable laws or regulations
5. Intellectual Property
The Butler AI application, including its design, code, copy, and the Victorian butler persona, are the intellectual property of Butler AI. Recipe data sourced from Allrecipes.com remains the property of its respective rights holders. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to reproduce or distribute the Service.
You retain ownership of any content you create within the application, including custom recipes and notes.
6. AI-Generated Content
Meal plans, recipe suggestions, and butler responses are generated by artificial intelligence. This content is provided for informational and convenience purposes only. Butler AI makes no warranty regarding the nutritional accuracy, safety, or suitability of AI-generated meal plans for any individual's specific medical, dietary, or health needs. You should consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes.
7. Grocery Pricing
Grocery prices displayed within the application are sourced from the Kroger and Smith's APIs and are subject to change without notice. Prices shown are estimates only and may not reflect actual in-store prices at the time of purchase. Butler AI accepts no liability for pricing discrepancies.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Butler AI and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah.
11. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via the application's "What's New" notification. Your continued use of the Service following such notification constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
